But how on earth (or on the moon) does anyone know the age of the rocks.   Moon rock is part of WikiProject Geology, an attempt at creating a standardized, informative, comprehensive and easy-to-use geology resource. We lack the story about what we learned from those rocks. 2 billion years from the basalt samples from the lunar mares, up to 4. Why can t they be carbon dated, or otherwise dated.
